January 31, 2010

With only two days to go before the 2010 OHL All-Star Classic in Kingston February 2-3, it was exactly two years ago today on January 31, 2008, when one of the most exciting games in OHL All-Star Classic history took place in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Eastern Conference continued their winning ways with an 8-7 shootout win over the West.  Steven Stamkos of the Sarnia Sting had three points and is the only player in OHL All-Star Classic history to record seven points in just two appearances and was the first of four straight OHL players to be selected in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft after competing in this game.  Drew Doughty of the Guelph Storm, Zach Bogosian of the Peterborough Petes, and Alex Pietrangelo of the Niagara IceDogs rounded out the top four picks.
