14 OHL Grads at 2018 NHL All-Star Weekend in Tampa Bay


14 OHL graduates are attending this weekend’s 2018 NHL All-Star festivities in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The weekend got started on Saturday at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition that featured former OHL talent rising to prominence.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid (Erie Otters) claimed victory in the fastest skater challenge for the second straight year, edging out Moose Jaw Warriors grad Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning with a time score of 13.4 seconds.

St. Louis Blues defenceman Alex Pietrangelo (Barrie Colts) took the title in a new event, the NHL passing challenge, completing the challenge in 46.6 seconds to win by a sizeable margin.

In the 2018 NHL All-Star Game championship final, Rickard Rakell (Plymouth Whalers) scored twice while Drew Doughty (Guelph Storm) also tallied to lead the Pacific Division over the Atlantic Division 5-2.

The 2018 All-Star Game again featured a 3-on-3 format as teams representing the NHL’s four teams competed in a single-elimination tournament.
