5 Reasons to be at Sunday’s Outdoor Game in Ottawa
This weekend is going to be a historic one for the Ottawa 67’s. Although it’s pretty obvious why you should be here on Sunday, we still wanted to give you the top five.
- The Game is outside!
Need we say more? Sunday will be the third ever OHL game played outdoors and the first ever OHL outdoor game played in Canada! Saying this doesn’t happen to often is an understatement and you don’t want to miss out.
- Rivalry renewed
The Ottawa 67’s and Gatineau Olympiques shared a fierce rivalry in years past. It used to be commonplace for the team’s too square off in regular season matchups. In recent years however, the teams took to facing off in preseason games, which yes, still featured the rivalry but it isn’t the same when there’s points on the line. As part of the 67’s 50th anniversary this rivalry is being renewed and nobody knows when it will be back again.
- Family Fun
This is the perfect outdoor game to take the family to! With a 3:00pm puck drop you’ll be back home in time to for everyone to go to bed at a reasonable hour and with tickets starting at only $15 there’s room for the whole family to enjoy.
- Christmas Market
Before the game head to Ottawa’s premiere Christmas market, the Lansdowne Christmas Market! Open from 9am-2pm Saturday and Sunday, the market will include live music inside the Aberdeen Pavilion, the Ottawa Farmers’ Market which features over 100 local food growers, vendors and artisans to help get visitors into the holiday spirit!
- Players to Watch
Noel Hoefenmayer – A force on both ends, Noel boasts a spot on the top d-pairing and is the team’s highest scoring defenceman.
Kody Clark – The 67’s winger is averaging a point per game since returning from injury and his draft stock has only been going up this season.
Tristan Berube/Mathieu Bellemare – Whichever goaltender Gatineau decides to go with this weekend will be one to watch. Both goaltenders eature GAAs under 3.00 ad SV% above 9.00.
