94 OHL graduates set for 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs

94 OHL graduates are competing in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs that begin Wednesday with five games on the schedule.

OHL alumni represent over 22% of all players competing in playoff action this season.

Past OHL greats such as Connor McDavid (Erie Otters/Edmonton Oilers), Corey Perry (London Knights/Anaheim Ducks) and Alex Pietrangelo (Barrie Colts/St. Louis Blues) hit the ice in pursuit of Stanley Cup glory.

All 16 NHL clubs feature OHL graduates with the Calgary Flames leading the way with 10 alumni.  All 20 OHL clubs have also produced at least one current NHL player still in the championship hunt with the London Knights leading the way with 17 former players.

The 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs get underway after a well-known OHL graduate earned a major regular season award.

Erie Otters graduate and 2015 CHL Player of the Year Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers claimed the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer, recording  30 goals, 70 assists and 100 points in 82 games. The first overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, McDavid becomes the sixth-youngest player in NHL history to record 100 points in a season and is the second-youngest to win the Art Ross Trophy after Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby won it as a 19-year-old in 2006-07.

Here’s a look at OHL graduates competing in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
