ALLIANCE, OMHA, GTHL set to showcase top Minor Midget talent


The pace is picking up in Minor Midget AAA circuits across the province as a trio of noteworthy events for 2018 OHL Priority Selection prospects approach on the schedule.

Both ALLIANCE Hockey and the OMHA host showcases this coming weekend while the GTHL has scheduled its 9th annual Top Prospects Game for Tuesday December 12th.

The ALLIANCE AAA All-Star Weekend takes place this weekend at Southwood Arena in Woodstock, Ont. The weekend features three All-Star games and will showcase some of the top ALLIANCE Hockey Talent from the Bantam AAA, Minor Midget AAA and Midget AAA age groups.

The ALLIANCE Minor Midget All-Star Game is set for 11:15am on Sunday December 3rd and will feature 40 total players with each team carrying two goaltenders, six defencemen and 12 forwards.

For OHL Under-18 Priority Selection prospects, the ALLIANCE Midget AAA All-Star Game takes place on Sunday December 3rd at 1:30pm.

The OMHA Minor Midget AAA Showcase this weekend in Aurora, Ont. features 13 OMHA teams from the Eastern AAA Minor Midget League along with a pair of teams consisting of players from the Northern Ontario Hockey Association.

Participating OMHA teams include the Whitby Wildcats, Clarington Toros, Peterborough Minor Petes, Kingston Jr. Frontenacs, Central Ontario Wolves, Quinte Red Devils, Oshawa Minor Generals, York-Simcoe Express, Richmond Hill Coyotes, Barrie Jr. Colts, Ajax-Pickering Raiders, Markham Waxers and North Central Predators.

For OHL Under-18 Priority Selection prospects, the showcase will include a Midget All-Star Game at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon.

Midget All-Star Rosters & Event Information

The GTHL has scheduled its 9th annual Top Prospects Game for Tuesday December 12th at 7:30pm at Scotiabank Pond in Downsview Park.

The top 40 GTHL Minor Midget AAA players will showcase their skills in showcase event that features six celebrity coaches in NHL alumni Wendel Clark, Adam Graves, Darcy Tucker, Wayne Primeau, Mike Weaver and Shayne Corson.

The Silver Stick champion Toronto Marlboros lead all teams with 10 players participating.

These upcoming events are another step for competing players on the path to the 2018 OHL Priority Selection that takes place on Saturday April 7, 2018.
