Attack’s Sushko signs with Flyers

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers announced today they have signed Maksim Sushko, the club’s Fourth Round Pick (107th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, to an entry-level contract to begin 2018-19 season, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

An 18-year-old from Brest, Belarus, Sushko has 55 points (30-25–55) in 57 games with the Owen Sound Attack this season, all of which are career-highs in his sophomore OHL season. He also leads the OHL in shorthanded goals with six.

Sushko appeared on the world stage in his first World Junior tournament this season, serving as captain of his native Belarus as he recorded eight points (2-6–8) in six games while averaging nearly 24 minutes of ice per game.

The 6-foot, 185Ib. winger recorded 11 points (3-8–11) in 17 playoff games with the Attack last spring, helping the club reach the Western Conference Final.

Sushko appeared in a Flyers-New York Islanders rookie game at the Wells Fargo Center this past fall where he played on a line alongside Nolan Patrick and Kitchener Rangers forward Connor Bunnaman.
