Attack’s Sushko helps Belarus secure berth in 2018 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship

Rookie Owen Sound Attack winger Maksim Sushko has helped Belarus punch its ticket to the 2018 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship after finishing first at the 2017 IIHF Group I Division A Under-20 World Championship last week in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The 17-year-old from Brest, Belarus had a goal in the five game tournament as the Belarussians defeated Austria 4-0 on Saturday to finish with a 4-1 record and secure a berth in the 2018 World Juniors in Buffalo next December.

Sushko was one of three CHL players representing Belarus. He was joined by Quebec Remparts forward Dmitri Buinitski and Calgary Hitmen blueliner Vladlislav Yeryomenko.

North Bay Battalion forward Max Kislinger represented Germany in the tournament.
