Brathwaite joins 67’s, Egert takes on expanded role

Ottawa 67s

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa 67’s announced two changes to their front office on Friday.

The club has added former NHL goaltender and OHL graduate Fred Brathwaite as a Goaltending Advisor, while Assistant General Manager Jan Egert adds the role of Director of Scouting to his duties with the Barber Poles.

Brathwaite tended goal for 254 games in the NHL with Edmonton, Calgary, St. Louis and Columbus.  He played professionally from 1993 to 2012, before making the transition to coaching.  His experience has included being a goalie consultant for Hockey Canada and goalie coach with the New York Islanders during the 2017-2018 season.

Prior to his NHL career, Brathwaite played four OHL seasons between Oshawa, London and Detroit from 1989-93, backstopping the Generals to a Memorial Cup title as a rookie. Brathwaite became one of the few OHL goaltenders to score a goal as a member of the Detroit Jr. Red Wings in 1992-93.

Egert is entering his second season as AGM of the 67’s after coming to Ottawa with General Manager James Boyd prior to last season. Both previously worked with the Mississauga Steelheads, where Egert served as AGM and Head Scout.
