Sherwood also pitched in with two assists for seven points, joining linemate Ryan Moore (21) as a plus-7 on the night. Mathieu Henderson (9), Jalen Smereck (6), Jake Durham (4), Everett Clark (11) and newcomer Maurizio Colella (8) also got in on the scoring as the Firebirds set a new club record with their 11-goal output. Flint outshot Saginaw 35-27, climbing six points ahead of them in the West Division standings while leap-frogging the Sarnia Sting in the process to take control of third place. Sherwood’s five goal-game is the first in the OHL this season while veteran captain Alex Peters had three assists in the win. The aforementioned Moore finished the game with a goal and four assists while C.J. Clarke had a pair of helpers in his Firebirds debut. Saginaw goals came from Brady Gilmour (12) and Mike Davies (4) while defenceman Hayden Davis made his Spirit debut.
