Friday Highlights: Attack one win away from West Final


OWEN SOUND 4 – SAULT STE. MARIE 3 – OS leads series 3-2
After losing Games 1 and 2 in Sault Ste. Marie, the Owen Sound Attack returned to the north for Game 5 on Friday, earning their third straight win to take a 3-2 series lead over the Greyhounds. The Attack climbed out to a 3-0 first period lead, holding on to win as Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael McNiven made 36 saves to earn first star honours. Nick Suzuki (6) and Chase Campbell (2) each had a goal and an assist as the Attack were winners behind Petrus Palmu’s (10) game winner with 2:26 remaining in the third period. Kevin Hancock (6) also scored for Owen Sound while McNiven made some key saves late to preserve the victory. Jack Kopacka (5), Boris Katchouk (8) and Zach Senyshyn (4) scored Sault Ste. Marie goals while Conor Timmins had a pair of assists. The Hounds outshot the Attack 39-34 while winning 65 percent of the game’s faceoffs. The Attack look to close out the series on Sunday in Owen Sound when the puck drops on Game 6 at 6:00pm.
