Frontenacs name Aaron Van Leusen Head Scout

Kingston Frontenacs

The Kingston Frontenacs announced long-time scout Aaron Van Leusen as the team’s new Head Scout. Van Leusen replaces Jeff McKercher, the Frontenacs veteran Head Scout who resigned from his position last week to accept the Ontario Scout role with the NHL’s St. Louis Blues. Van Leusen has been with the Frontenacs scouting program for several years, focusing on the Hamilton and Burlington areas.

“Aaron is an amazing choice for our team to continue the hard work of leading our scouting program,” said Darren Keily, General Manager with the Kingston Frontenacs. “Aaron’s hard work and dedication has been invaluable to our team and we’re happy to see him progress with our scouting program.”

Playing his entire OHL career with the Brampton Battalion, Aaron was a 10th round selection of the Battalion from his hometown of Barrie in the 1998 OHL Priority Selection. He played in 214 games over four seasons in the league and was a 4th round selection of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. After graduating from the OHL, Aaron moved east and played three seasons with the University of St. Mary’s Huskies, where he was an Academic All-Canadian all three years and Captain of the Club in the 2004-05 season. After obtaining his degree, he played one season professionally in Holland. Aaron currently resides in Burlington and is a police officer with York Regional Police.
