Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads announced Wednesday that they’ve received a commitment from 2017 eighth round (155th overall) selection, goaltender Matthew Dunsmoor.

A 16-year-old native of Guelph, Ont., Dunsmoor spent the 2016-17 season with the Guelph Gryphons Minor Midgets, posting a 1.80 goals-against average along with three shutouts over 20 games to be named the OMHA SCTA Minor Midget Player of the Year.

The 5-foot-9, 205Ib. netminder recently represented Team OMHA Black in the 2017 OHL Gold Cup, going 1-0-0 with a 2.86 goals-against average in two appearances as his team placed second.

Dunsmoor was the lone goaltender chosen by the Steelheads in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection. He’ll be in attendance at Steelheads training camp later this month at the Hershey Centre.
