Milestone Moments: Sept. 27/17

 

Not only did Sudbury Wolves rookie Blake Murray score his first OHL goal on Wednesday, he scored three of them. Here’s a look at a big night for one of the OHL’s bright young stars.

 

BLAKE MURRAY (SUDBURY WOLVES):
The seventh overall pick of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, Whitby Wildcats graduate Blake Murray took centre stage on Wednesday in North Bay. The 16-year-old netted a hat-trick within a span of 7:19, lighting the lamp for the first three times in his OHL career. Murray’s first goal came off a tremendous power play feed from rookie defenceman Zack Malik. He continued to be in the right place at the right time early in the third period when he took a feed from Dmitry Sokolov and finished at 3:08. Murray completed the hat-trick with an assist to overage defenceman Kyle Rhodes at 5:06. Murray’s big night was overshadowed by a Battalion overtime win, but the youngster has made quite an impression with points in all three games this season.
