NIAGARA 4 – HAMILTON 3 – OT

Much like Game 1 of the series, one team fell behind and charged back to tie things up late before falling in overtime. This time, the IceDogs came out on top as Ben Jones set up Kirill Maksimov (3) 11:27 into overtime as Niagara took a 4-3 win on home ice. Down 3-1 with less than five minutes remaining, Ryan Moore (5) and MacKenzie Entwistle (1) scored Hamilton goals to knot things at three to force overtime. The Niagara win cuts Hamilton’s series lead in half to 2-1. Jones (4) finished the night with a goal and two assists for the IceDogs while Akil Thomas (5) and Elijah Roberts (1) also found the back of the net. Stephen Dhillon earned first star honours with a 47-save performance, helping the IceDogs win despite being outshot 50-33. Isaac Nurse (5) added Hamilton’s other goal as the Bulldogs came up short despite carrying the play throughout parts of the game. Game 4 of the series goes Wednesday night in St. Catharines.
OWEN SOUND 6 – SAULT STE. MARIE 2

The Owen Sound Attack cashed in on their chances on Monday night, scoring six times on 27 shots as NHL Draft prospect Aidan Dudas (2) scored a highlight reel game winner 7:11 into the second period in an eventual 6-2 win. The Attack pull ahead of the Soo Greyhounds for a 2-1 series lead, striking for four unanswered goals in front of a packed house at the Bayshore. Kevin Hancock (4, 5) scored twice for the Bears while Alan Lyszczarczyk (6), Cade Robinson (1) and Ethan Szypula (2) also tallied. Philadelphia Flyers prospect Maksim Sushko had three assists on the night while goaltender Olivier Lafreniere was solid, turning aside 28 shots. The Greyhounds had goals from Morgan Frost (4) and Keeghan Howdeshell (3). They’ll to keep things within reach on Wednesday night, taking on the Attack at the Bayshore in Game 4.
