Nando Eggenberger commits to Generals

Oshawa Generals

Oshawa, ON – The Oshawa Generals announced today that 2018 Import Selection Nando Eggenberger has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the Hockey Club.

The Chur, Switzerland native was drafted by the Generals this past June in the CHL Import Draft. Last season, he played in the NLA in Switzerland with HC Davos. The 6’2, 185 lbs left shot forward will join the Generals for the 2018-19 season.

“We are really excited about having Nando commit to our hockey club for next season” said Vice President and General Manager Roger Hunt on the signing. “He had a down year last season for his standards, but he will have a ton to prove to us and the NHL scouts next season.”

Eggenberger has represented Switzerland numerous times in international play. He appeared twice in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (now the Hlinka Gretzky Cup), suited up at the World U18 Championships on two occasions and most recently played in two World Junior Championships, captaining the team at the 2018 tournament in Buffalo, NY. Eggenberger will join fellow Swiss player Nico Gross on the Gens roster, a player who he is familiar with as international teammates.

Eggenberger will arrive in Oshawa for the first time later this summer when he joins the team for training camp beginning August 27th at the Tribute Communities Centre.
