OHL News – Radio Edition with host Terry Doyle and presented by Bauer continues for the 2017-18 regular season bringing fans insight from feature guests as well as news and notes from around the league each and every week over the airwaves.
This week’s segment features New York Rangers prospect Tim Gettinger of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The captain enters weekend play with 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points in 29 games while the Hounds are riding a franchise record 15-game winning-streak and are the top ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League.
A 19-year-old from North Olmstead, Ohio, Gettinger is playing in his fourth season in Sault Ste. Marie after being chosen by the Greyhounds in the third round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. 2016-17 was his top offensive season to date recording 31 goals and 54 points in 62 games after being picked in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Rangers who signed him to an entry-level contract in March.
Gettinger chats with Doyle about the Greyhounds impressive streak, how the coaching staff has helped him succeed, his decision to join the OHL as a minor midget player in the Cleveland area, and his experiences with the NHL’s Rangers.
