OHL News – Radio Edition for Feb 2/18

OHL News – Radio Edition with host Terry Doyle and presented by Bauer continues for the 2017-18 regular season bringing fans insight from feature guests as well as news and notes from around the league each and every week over the airwaves.

This week’s segment features NHL Draft prospect Akil Thomas of the Niagara IceDogs who recently competed at the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game as a member of Team Cherry who emerged victorious in Guelph by a 7-4 score.

Thomas, an 18-year-old from Brandon, Florida, is playing in his second season with the IceDogs who chose him in the first round of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.  He enters the weekend with 56 points through 47 games including 13 goals and 43 assists as the IceDogs hold onto first in the Central Division standings.  Thomas is listed 10th among North American skaters for the 2018 NHL Draft in NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings.

He chats with Doyle about his experience in Guelph spending time with fellow top prospects from across the Canadian Hockey League.  He also describes his time growing up in various cities during his father’s pro career, and the mindset in St. Catharines as the IceDogs compete ahead of schedule.
