OHL News – Radio Edition with host Terry Doyle and presented by Bauer continues for the 2017-18 regular season bringing fans insight from feature guests as well as news and notes from around the league each and every week over the airwaves.
This week’s segment features a pair of NHL Draft prospects including Ty Dellandrea of the Flint Firebirds and Barrett Hayton of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds who both competed recently at the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
Dellandrea, a 17-year-old from Port Perry, Ont., enters weekend play with 45 points in 50 games including 22 goals and 23 assists. The fifth overall pick in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection was listed 76th in NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings. Hayton, a 17-year-old from Peterborough, Ont., has 48 points including 18 goals and 30 assists through 50 games. He was chosen ninth overall by the Hounds in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection and is now ranked sixth among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
The prospects chat with Doyle about their experience in Guelph competing among the top players from across the Canadian Hockey League. They also talk about their season in the OHL where Dellandrea is part of a rebuilding group in Flint loaded with young talent, while Hayton and the Greyhounds are the league’s top team gearing up for a run at the title.
