OHL News – Radio Edition with host Terry Doyle and presented by Bauer returns for the 2018-19 regular season bringing fans insight from feature guests as well as news and notes from around the league each and every week over the airwaves.
This week’s segment features NHL Draft prospect Joe Carroll of the West Division leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds who will be competing in the 2019 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on January 23 in Red Deer, Alberta.
The 17-year-old from Carp, Ont., is playing in his second season with the Greyhounds after being chosen in the fourth round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection. He’s already tied his rookie point total from a year ago with 18 in 37 games including six goals and 12 assists. Carroll, who was given a ‘B’ rating by NHL Central Scouting in their ‘Players to Watch’ list for December, will compete as a member of Team Orr at the CHL’s annual showcase of top draft eligible talent. Sault Ste. Marie holds the CHL’s longest active streak of representation at this event with Carroll making 10 straight years a Greyhound will compete.
Carroll chats with Doyle about how playing in the Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game was a goal of his coming into the season. He assesses his first half performance on a personal level and describes how the team has managed to be successful despite so much turnover from last season and playing at times over the holidays without top players in the lineup.
