Petes name local product Logan DeNoble captain

Peterborough Petes

Peterborough, ON – The Peterborough Petes have announced their captains group for the 2017-18 season which kicks off Thursday against the Erie Otters at 7:05pm. The newest Petes captains are as follows:

Captain: Logan DeNoble (Centre #28)
Alternate Captains: Alex Black (Defence #5), Jonathan Ang (Centre #21), Matt Timms (Defence #4), and Zach Gallant (Centre #11)

DeNoble was selected by the Peterborough Petes in the 13th round, 242nd overall in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection. As an alternate captain for the 2016-17 season, he led the Petes in goals and earned an invitation to the Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Camp.

The 5’11”, 193lbs centre will follow in the footsteps of numerous former captains that were also local to Peterborough, including Doug Gibson (1972-73), Dallas Eakins (1987-88), Brent Tully (1993-94), Steve Webb (1994-95), and Kevin Bolibruck (1996-97). See a full list of past captains here.

“Growing up in Peterborough, it was a dream to play for the Petes,” commented DeNoble. “If you’d have told when I was drafted in 2014 that one day I’d be named captain, I probably would have laughed it off.”

“It was an accomplishment to make the team, and to now have the honour of captaining my hometown club is incredible. I am going to make the most of this opportunity and will work hard, along with the other captains, to lead us to another successful season.”

“When it comes time to select captains, you look at players who bring character, their work ethic, their attitudes and how they carry themselves,” added Head Coach Jody Hull. “For us, these guys exemplify all those qualities.”

“We felt that Logan was the player who, based on his journey to this point, best personifies what it means to be a Peterborough Pete.”

Fourth year defenceman Matt Timms and Detroit Red Wings prospect Zach Gallant will start the year as alternate captains during home games (cream sweaters), while overager Alex Black and Florida Panthers prospect Jonathan Ang will start the season as road game alternate captains (black sweaters).
