2017 OHL Pre-Season Showcase – HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY:
NORTH BAY 6, FLINT 1
The North Bay Battalion spread the scoring around, defeating the Flint Firebirds 6-1 to wrap up their OHL Pre-Season Showcase with a 2-0-1 record. Brett McKenzie and Daniel Walker each had a goal and an assist while Brad Chenier chipped in with two helpers. Goaltenders Mat Woroniuk and Julian Sime combined to turn aside 33 of the 34 shots they faced. Justin Brazeau, Cam Dineen, Alex Robert and Luke Burghardt also scored for North Bay while Hakon Nilsen provided the lone goal for Flint. The Battalion outshot the Firebirds 37-34.
WINDSOR 4, PETERBOROUGH 1
William Sirman scored a pair of goals while Cole Purboo and overage candidate Jake Smith recorded a pair of assists each as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Peterborough Petes 4-1 to wrap up a perfect weekend. Goaltender Lucas Patton stopped 19 of the shots that came his way while Mathew MacDougall and Igor Larionov provided other goals for the Spitfires. Adam Timleck scored Peterborough’s lone goal on a second period power play as the Petes were outshot 31-20. Peterborough’s Blake Curran provided 27 saves in the loss.
KITCHENER 3, ERIE 2
Cole Carter scored twice, potting the eventual game winner 1:48 into the second period as the Kitchener Rangers edged the Erie Otters 3-2. Rookie defenceman Jack York also provided a goal for the Blueshirts while goaltender Luke Richardson made 30 saves. Aidan Timmermans and Christian Girhiny responded with goals for Erie as the Otters went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Rangers close out their OHL Pre-Season Showcase with a record of 1-1-1 while Erie finished at 2-1-0.

OWEN SOUND 5, BARRIE 1
New addition Alan Lyszczarczyk wasted no time making an impact with the Owen Sound Attack, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 5-1 win over the visiting Barrie Colts. Los Angeles Kings prospect Jacob Friend pitched in with a goal and an assist while fellow rearguard Nick King and Vegas Golden Knights first round pick Nick Suzuki recorded a pair of helpers each. Matthew Struthers and Kevin Hancock also scored as the Bears outshot the Colts 36-17. Zack Bowman turned away 16 shots in the win, surrendering Barrie’s lone goal off the stick of Lucas Chiodo.
KINGSTON 5, OTTAWA 2
First round pick Cody Morgan scored twice and added an assist as the Kingston Frontenacs defeated the visiting Ottawa 67’s 5-2. Jason Robertson, Paul Larabie and Linus Nyman also scored for the Fronts as they outshot the 67’s 34-23. Kyle Auger and Kody Clark provided goals for Ottawa. Mario Peccia and Jeremy Helvig combined to turn away 21 shots in goal for Kingston.
SAULT STE. MARIE 5, SAGINAW 4 – SO
Rookie defenceman Robert Calisti netted the game winner in the seventh round of a shootout as the Soo Greyhounds prevailed over the Saginaw Spirit 5-4 on home ice. Calisti provided the only goal of the shootout as Sault Ste. Marie’s Matthew Villalta denied Damien Giroux to secure the win. The Greyhounds victory comes in the back half of a home-and-home set that saw the Spirit take Saturday’s contest 4-3 on home ice. Rookie forward Zack Trott scored his second of the afternoon to tie the score at four with 1:28 remaining in the third period. Jack Kopacka and Morgan Frost also scored for the Greyhounds as they won despite being outshot 30-20. Nicholas Porco, Nate Boomhower, Cole Coskey and Camaryn Baber found the back of the net for Saginaw while goaltender Cameron Lamour turned away six of the seven shooters he faced in the shootout.
