Sportsnet CHL Saturday Showcase: Kitchener at Barrie

The first edition of Sportsnet CHL Saturday Showcase for the 2017-18 season has RJ Broadhead, Sam Cosentino and the crew in Barrie, Ont. as the CHL’s seventh-ranked Colts play host to the Kitchener Rangers at 3:30pm ET.

Top 2018 NHL Draft prospect Andrei Svechnikov remains sidelined in Barrie, but a balanced scoring attack has propelled the Colts to first place in the Central Division with a 12-5-1-1 record.

Dale Hawerchuk’s team looks to rebound from an 8-2 Thursday night loss against Sudbury and get back on track before the eyes of a national audience.

The 13-6-2-0 Kitchener Rangers enter action with wins in six of their last seven games and are led offensively by Florida Panthers prospect Adam Mascherin along with veteran captain Connor Bunnaman.

Big 6-foot-7 Winnipeg Jets first round pick Logan Stanley patrols the Ranger blue line, carrying the load back there along with Pittsburgh Penguins draftee Connor Hall and draft eligible sophomore Giovanni Vallati.

Don’t miss the Central Division-leading Colts take on the red hot Rangers.

As part of the CHL’s 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup celebrations, the league has announced that 17 CHL communities in eight different provinces will comprise a special Memorial Cup Tour which begins on Saturday in Barrie.

Fans can come and see the Memorial Cup on display at the Angus Recreation Centre following the Santa Claus Parade from 11:00-12:00pm. The trophy will also pay a visit to the Canadian Forces Base in Borden from 12:30-2:00pm. The Memorial Cup will be on display at the Andy Anderson Arena (Building T-126, 100 Ramillies Rd, Borden, ON).
