Steelheads Announce New Lease Agreement
Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads and the City of Mississauga are pleased to announce a new 5-year agreement for the Mississauga Steelheads Hockey Club.
“I am very pleased that we were able to finalize a Hershey Centre agreement with the City of Mississauga,” Steelheads President and owner Elliott Kerr said on Monday. “The City continues to be a valuable partner and we are very appreciative of their support.”
This agreement, coupled with the City of Mississauga announcement that the Hershey Centre will be renamed the Paramount Fine Foods Centre beginning on July 1, ushers in a new era of Steelheads hockey.
The new agreement ensures that the Steelheads will continue to provide affordable, family-friendly hockey in the Greater Toronto Area for our fans, the community, and our players. The framework of the agreement allows for stronger partnerships with existing local minor hockey associations, corporate sponsors and community non-profit groups to continue to develop.
As part of the agreement, the Steelheads will continue to play Ontario Hockey League games at the newly renamed facility and utilize the accompanying community hockey rinks as their primary practice facility. The Steelheads main office and retail store, The Bait Shop, will remain at the arena.
“Mississauga is a city that proudly supports its sports clubs from grassroots to professional,” said Paul Mitcham, Commissioner, Community Services. “Mississauga has been home to the OHL for twenty years and we are pleased that this proud tradition will continue under this new agreement with the Mississauga Steelheads.”
