Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils today signed its 2016 second round draft pick, (41st overall) Nathan Bastian, to a three-year, entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

The 18-year- old right wing is in his third OHL campaign with the Mississauga Steelheads. In 2016-17, Bastian has four goals, six assists for 10 points through six games, which includes a career-high five assist night against Guelph. In 2015-16, he registered nearly a point-per- game with 19 goals, 40 assists for 59 points through 64 contests. He also played in the 2016 CHL Top Prospects Game alongside his Steelheads’ teammate and fellow Devils’ draftee, Michael McLeod.

The right-shooting forward attended this season’s New Jersey Devils Training Camp. On October 1, the 6-4, 205lb. native of Kitchener, Ont., was assigned to the Steelheads by New Jersey. He recorded one assist in two preseason games and also played for the Devils at this year’s Prospects Challenge in Buffalo, NY. He also skated at the 2016 Devils Development Camp in July.
