Mississauga, ON – On the heels of his announcement as the Steelheads new general manager, James Richmond wasted no time in putting together his hockey operations team for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
Assistant Coach, Jeff Kyrzakos and Coordinator of Analytics, Mike Doyle have been promoted from within and will both take on assistant general manager duties. Kyrzakos will also remain as an assistant coach. Former Video Coach, Brendan Taylor will step in to an assistant coach position and join Richmond and Kyrzakos behind the Steelheads’ bench next season. Ryan Daniels will remain on staff as the team’s goaltending coach.
James Richmond is excited about the expanded roles of Kyrzakos, Doyle and Taylor, adding “all three have earned their positions with their commitment and hard work. I couldn’t be more pleased to work alongside Jeff, Michael and Brendan and I know the players will benefit from what each of these men bring to our hockey club. We will together continue to build the winning atmosphere and cultivate the strong character of the Mississauga Steelheads.”
In addition, the Steelheads are pleased to welcome Rob Toffoli who will assume head scout duties, and oversee the Steelheads’ scouting department moving forward. Rob, father of LA Kings forward, Tyler Toffoli, brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge after previously scouting the Toronto region for the Ottawa 67’s.
The changes to the hockey operations department come following a record-setting year for the Steelheads as the team clinched its first Central Division and Eastern Conference titles.
The Steelheads would like to congratulate James Richmond, Jeff Kyrzakos, Mike Doyle and Brendan Taylor on their new roles, and welcome Rob Toffoli to the organization.
