Storm’s Samorukov signs with Oilers

Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oilers have signed 2017 third round selection Dmitri Samorukov to a three-year entry level contract.

The 6’2″, 180-pound defenceman appeared in 67 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Guelph Storm last season, posting 20 points (4G, 16A) and 41 penalty minutes.

The Volgograd, Russia native has represented Russia most recently at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, posting two assists and 16 penalty minutes in five games. Samorukov has also represented Russia twice at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship (2015, 2016), as well as the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

This summer, the 18-year old attended the Oilers 2017 Development Camp in Jasper, Alberta and will be attending the Oilers rookie camp and Young Stars Classic in Penticton, BC.
