Sunday Highlights: 67’s edge Firebirds in OT thriller


Nikita Okhotyuk’s (1) first OHL goal couldn’t have come at a better time as the Russian defenceman scored with 15 seconds remaining in overtime Sunday night to lead the Ottawa 67’s over the visiting Flint Firebirds 4-3. Okhotyuk finished off a great Sasha Chmelevski effort, putting a shot past Flint’s Garrett Forrest to help the 67’s improve to 4-3-1-0. Ottawa squandered a 3-1 lead as Maurizio Colella (2) and Hunter Holmes (3) scored Flint goals in the latter half of the third period to send things to overtime knotted at three. Ottawa netminder Olivier Tremblay made 40 saves in the win while Graeme Clarke (3), Sam Bitten (1) and Tye Felhaber (4) also provided goals. The Firebirds had a pair of goals from Colella (1, 2) in the loss, picking up a point to close out their three-game weekend road trip. Flint is now 3-2-1-0.
