1ST STAR: ERIK CERMAK (PETERBOROUGH PETES):
His club may have come up short, but rookie forward Erik Cermak‘s three-point performance earned him first star recognition on Tuesday. The 17-year-old from Prague, Czech Rep. enjoyed his first OHL multi-point outing with two goals and an assist as the Petes fell to the visiting Kitchener Rangers 5-3. Cermak was Peterborough’s second round (69th overall) pick in the 2018 CHL Import Draft out of the RB Hockey Akademie.
2ND STAR: LUKE RICHARDSON (KITCHENER RANGERS):
Veteran netminder Luke Richardson helped the Kitchener Rangers shake a three-game losing skid, turning aside 40 shots in a 5-3 road win over Peterborough. Richardson’s Rangers were heavily outshot but the Blueshirts came away with two points as the 40-saves mark a season-high for the Barrie, Ont. native. A former fourth round pick by the Rangers in 2015, Richardson will represent the OHL at the 2018 CIBC Canada Russia Series this week.
3RD STAR: CHASE CAMPBELL (KITCHENER RANGERS):
Overage forward Chase Campbell scored twice, netting the game winner with 1:08 left in the second period as the Rangers took a 5-3 win on the road. The 20-year-old from Waterloo, Ont. joined the Rangers earlier this season after spending the past season-and-a-half with the Owen Sound Attack. Campbell is a 197-game OHL veteran currently in his fifth year in the league. He has six points (4-2–6) through 17 games this season.
