1ST STAR: BARRETT HAYTON (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Barrett Hayton didn’t disappoint in his season debut, recording a goal and two assists as the Soo Greyhounds defeated visiting Flint 4-1. Hayton’s first game since being returned from an extended look with the Arizona Coyotes also included three shots on goal and a 13-for-20 night in the faceoff circle. The Peterborough, Ont. gave the Hounds a 3-0 lead on the power play 4:12 into the third period and also assisted on goals scored by Keeghan Howdeshell and Morgan Frost. Hayton was the fifth overall pick of this past summer’s NHL Draft.
2ND STAR: TYE FELHABER (OTTAWA 67’s):
As he did on Sunday, Ottawa 67’s winger Tye Felhaber earns second star recognition following another three-point game. The overage veteran extended his point streak to six games with a goal and two assists as the 67’s defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 4-1 on home ice. Felhaber opened the scoring 3:56 into the first period before picking up primary assists on goals from Marco Rossi and Sasha Chmelevski. Felhaber has 14 points (8-6–14) through his first nine games of the season.
3RD STAR: MORGAN FROST (SAULT STE. MARIE GREYHOUNDS):
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Morgan Frost had a pair of assists before hitting the empty net to seal the deal on a Greyhounds win. Frost had assists on goals by Cole MacKay and Barrett Hayton, giving him 12 points (5-7–12) through his first eight games. The Aurora, Ont. native was a first round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017.
