Thursday Highlights: Parsons perfect as Knights withstand Erie siege

LONDON 2 – ERIE 0 – LDN leads series 1-0
Calgary Flames prospect Tyler Parsons was simply sensational, turning in a 46-save shutout to steal Game 1 for the London Knights in Erie. Mitchell Stephens (5) and Evan Bouchard (2) scored second period goals as the Knights shutout the Otters for the first time all season with just 12 shots on goal to their credit. That total is London’s lowest since Mar. 4, 2011 as Parsons provided a number of highlight reel saves to help the Knights fend off a relentless Otters attack. Both clubs went 0-for-4 on the power play while the Otters had the upper hand in the faceoff circle, going 57 percent on the night. The two clubs meet back in Erie for Game 2 on Friday.

PETERBOROUGH 4 – KINGSTON 2 – PBO leads series 1-0
The Peterborough Petes drew first blood in their second round series as Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Nikita Korostelev (2) had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over visiting Kingston in Game 1. Steven Lorentz (5), Kyle Jenkins (2) and Chris Paquette (1) also scored for Peterborough while Dylan Wells made 27 saves. Kingston goals came from Sam Harding (1) and Linus Nyman (5) while Jason Robertson had a pair of assists. Peterborough outshot Kingston 34-29 while dominating the faceoff circle to the tune of a 61 percent clip. The two clubs are off until Sunday when Game 2 gets underway back in Peterborough.
