Tuesday Highlights: Richardson’s Rangers stop streaking Colts

Luke Richardson made 43 saves to record his first career OHL shutout as the Kitchener Rangers blanked the visiting Barrie Colts 3-0 on Tuesday. After a scoreless first period, Riley Damiani (13) opened the scoring for the Rangers 20 seconds into the second before defenceman Kyle Gentles (1) followed suit under two minutes later. Winnipeg Jets prospect Logan Stanley (9) would add a third goal 7:25 into the third period as the Rangers won their fifth straight contest, improving to 25-11-2-0. Kole Sherwood recorded two assists while Adam Mascherin stretched his current point streak to 15 games with a helper of his own. Colts netminder Leo Lazarev made 27 saves before leaving the game due to injury midway through the third period. Lazarev made several highlight reel saves to earn second star honours in the loss. The Kitchener win ends Barrie’s six-game winning streak as the Colts drop to 23-11-2-1, six points behind second place Niagara in the Central.
