Tuesday Highlights: Storming back to victory

GUELPH 4 – KITCHENER 3 – OT
The Guelph Storm caught the Kitchener Rangers on an overtime line change as Ryan Merkley dropped for Isaac Ratcliffe (39) off the rush 56 seconds into the extra frame. The 4-3 home ice win saw the Storm overcome a 3-0 deficit against the rival Rangers, leap-frogging the Windsor Spitfires and Saginaw Spirit in the process to gain control of sixth in the Western Conference. Merkley (13) started the comeback with 6:06 remaining in the third period before Mason Primeau (6) and Alexey Toropchenko (16) added Guelph goals to knot things up at three with 1:49 to go. Riley Damiani (18, 19) scored twice for Kitchener while Logan Brown (21) also found the scoresheet as the Blueshirts fell to 43-20-3-0. The Rangers have won five of seven matchups with the Storm this season with one encounter remaining on Friday in Kitchener. The Storm wrap up the home portion of their regular season schedule, improving to 29-28-5-4.
