Wednesday Highlights: Defence steps up as Wolves edge Hounds

The Sudbury Wolves prevailed in a mid-week clash of northern rivals, doubling up the visiting Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 4-2. The loss is the Hounds’ first in regulation since their home opener on September¬†23rd as 2018 NHL Draft prospect David Levin scored (5) and added two assists while goaltender Jake McGrath made 31 saves. The Wolves were fuelled by offensive contributions from the back end as defencemen Reagan O’Grady (2), Cole Candella (2) and Kyle Rhodes (5) all lit the lamp to improve Sudbury’s record to 3-6-2-0. The Hounds staged a late comeback bid as Morgan Frost (4) scored in the second period before Boris Katchouk scored his OHL-leading 11th goal of the season with just 1:33 remaining to cut the deficit to one. Levin would hit the empty net and seal the deal as the Wolves got back in the win column. New acquisition Doug Blaisdell earned third star honours in his Wolves debut. The Greyhounds took the shooting column 33-25 in the loss.
