It will be a battle of the top two teams in the Eastern Conference Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2009, live on Rogers Sportsnet Ontario at 3:00 pm when the Brampton Battalion host the Belleville Bulls.
The Bulls come into the game on a five-game winning streak with a record of 40-15-22 for 84 points and first place in the OHL's Eastern Conference. Not far behind in second place are the Battalion with 80 points and a record of 39-17-1-1. The season series between the two teams is 1-1 with the Battalion victorious on November 9th 7-1. Most recently the Bulls won at home 3-1 on February 11.
Leading the offence for the Bulls is captain Eric Tangradi who is second in league scoring with 37 goals and 46 assists for 83 points in 50 games. Cody Hodgson and Matt Duchene both lead the Battalion with 71 points.
The game will feature the top two goaltenders in the league in Mike Murphy for the Bulls and Thomas McCollum for the Battalion. Murphy has the best goals-against-average at 2.11 and the best save percentage at .941. Second in each category is McCollum with a goals-against-average of 2.12 and save percentage of .927. McCollum leads the OHL with six shutouts. Murphy has four on the season.
