Head Coach and General Manager of the Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club Steve Spott has announced the signing of their eighth round pick in the 2009 Priority Selection, Ben Thomson to an Ontario Hockey League contract.
Thomson played for the Mississauga Reps minor midget AAA during the 2008-09 season.
"We are extremely pleased that despite Ben's ivy-league opportunity, he and his family have chosen to come to the Kitchener Rangers, where he can develop as an elite hockey player while achieving his academic goals" - Steve Spott.
"Ben is a big power forward with offensive upside while being responsible at both ends of the ice. We are thrilled to have Ben become a part of our program for the next few years" - Spott.
The Rangers later announced the signing of their third round pick in the 2009 Priority Selection, Ben Fanelli to an Ontario Hockey League contract.
"Ben is an important piece of the Rangers future. He is a great skater with good vision and the ability to control a game. We are very excited to welcome Ben to the Rangers organization and are happy that he chose to pursue his goals as a hockey player and a student here in Kitchener. " - Steve Spott
Fanelli played for the Mississauga Senators minor midget AAA during the 2008-09 season.
Both Thomson and Fanelli will participate in the Provincial Under-17 Selection Camp from June 25-28 in Ottawa, ON.
