The milestone came for Butler in his 14th season behind the bench. He started his OHL coaching career with the Oshawa Generals in 1994 and after two seasons with the Generals spent one year in the Western Hockey League with the Prince George Cougars. He returned to the OHL to guide the expansion Battalion in their inaugural season in 1998 and has been the only coach in the history of the franchise.

Butler, who earned his 400th CHL win in October, has a career record of 400-396-65 in 861 OHL games. The 52-year-old Scarborough native is fourth among active coaches and is 10th all-time in OHL coaching wins.

George Burnett of the Belleville Bulls and Dave MacQueen of the Sarnia Sting also reached their 400 win milestones this season. Brian Kilrea of the Ottawa 67’s is the all-time leader with 1,181 wins and counting.
