The Canadian Hockey League was once again very well represented at the 2004 CIS University Cup this past weekend in Fredericton, N.B.

100 CHL graduates played on the six participating teams in the national championship, including 22 graduates for the St. Francis-Xavier X-Men, who won their first national title. Nearly 500 CHL graduates play CIS hockey and attend Canadian Universities on scholarships from their CHL teams.

Blake Robson, who played for the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League last season, scored 17 seconds into the second overtime period to lift StFX to a 3-2 win over the UNB Varsity Reds in the final on Sunday.

CHL graduates Mike Mole (Belleville Bulls) and Mike Martone (Peterborough Petes) of StFX, Craig Mahon (Windsor Spitfires) of UNB, Ryan Wade (Kelowna Rockets) of the University of Alberta and Chris Stanley (Belleville Bulls) of Dalhousie were named to the championship all-star team.

Stanley (pictured), who had three goals and an assist to help Dalhousie to a 4-1 win over Alberta in the bronze medal game, was named CIS player of the year earlier in the week after leading the CIS with 18 goals and 48 points in 28 games.
