Five Forwards to Watch at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft

Peter Holland of the Guelph Storm is a projected first round selection, ranked 19th overall amongst North American Skaters heading into the 2009 NHL Entry Draft which begins this Friday June 26, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Bell Centre in Montreal.  He headlines a list of five Ontario Hockey League forwards profiled below that are ranked in the top 90 and should hear their names called this weekend.

Selected in the first round, 11th overall by Guelph in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection, Peter Holland scored 28 goals and 39 assists for 67 points in 68 games for the Storm.  He finished second on the team in scoring and represented the club at the 2009 Subway OHL All-Star Classic, the 2009 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and the 2008 ADT Canada Russia Challenge.  He has also competed internationally at the 2009 World Under-18 Championships with Canada and at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge winning gold with Team Ontario.

Ethan Werek – Kingston Frontenacs
Hometown: Goodwood, ON
D.O.B: June 7, 1991

Selected in the first round, ninth overall by Kingston at the 2007 OHL Priority Selection, Ethan Werek finished second on the Frontenacs with 32 goals and 32 assists for 64 points in a 66 game rookie season.  He represented Kingston at the 2009 Subway OHL All-Star Classic and also played for Canada at the 2009 World Under-18 Championships and won gold with Team Ontario at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Michael Latta – Guelph Storm

Selected in the first round, sixth overall by Ottawa at the 2007 OHL Priority Selection, Michael Latta scored 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points in 65 games in a season split between the Storm and the 67's.  Latta won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Garrett Wilson scored 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points in 53 games as a rookie with the Attack.  Wilson was named the Dave McComb Memorial Award recipient presented to the Attack player that best demonstrates leadership and perseverance.
