OHL Announces Academic Players of the Month
The Ontario Hockey League today announced the OHL Academic Players of the Month for December.
West Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for December in the West Division is right winger
Jan Mursak of the Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club. Jan, 18, a native of Maribor, Slovenia, is a Grade 12 student at Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw.
Midwest Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for December the Midwest Division is center
Jeff Hayes of the Guelph Storm Hockey Club. Hayes, 17, a native of Ottawa, Ontario is a Grade 12 student at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Guelph.
Central Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for December in the Central Division is left winger
Stephane Chabot of the Brampton Battalion Hockey Club. Chabot, 18, a native of Rockland, Ontario is a Grade 12 student at Turner Fenton Secondary School.
East Division - The OHL Academic Player of the Month for December in the East Division is defenseman
Adam Nemeth of the Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club. Nemeth, 19, a native of Amherstburg, Ontario, is a 2nd year student at Queen's University in Kingston.
Each month, the OHL recognizes a player from each Division who is striving to reach his full potential in his educational program while playing in the Ontario Hockey League.
More than 97% of the players currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League are attending high school or post-secondary institutions. For the 2005-06 playing season, 239 OHL graduates are currently attending Canadian universities on scholarships from their OHL teams.
