Less than one week until the puck drops at the 2010 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament March 17-21 at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, ON.
The Toronto Marlies organization has enjoyed more success at the OHL Cup than any other minor midget program competing in four of the last five championship finals winning the cup in 2005 and last season at the 2009 event.
The 20 competing teams for the 2010 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament will be announced on Monday as final results unfold this weekend!
In the OMHA, the number ten ranked York Simcoe Express are hosting the OMHA Championships in Newmarket against with the number eight ranked Whitby Wildcats, Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs, Oakville Rangers, and Markham Waxers all competing for the top two spots to secure a berth in the 2010 OHL Cup. In the GTHL, the final series is still in progresss to determine the number one GTHL seed for the tournament as the number two ranked Toronto Jr. Canadiens and the number one ranked Toronto Young Nats are currently tied at six points each in their final series. In the ODMHA, the Ottawa Valley Titans defeated the Ottawa Jr. 67's 8-4 in points to capture the OEMHL Championship. For more information please visit www.odha.com.
The number nine ranked Elgin Middlesex Chiefs currently lead the number five ranked London Jr. Knights Gold in the ALLIANCE Championship finals 3-2. For more information please visit www.alliancehockey.com.

The tournament will include 20 participating teams from across Ontario and the United States. The champions and finalists from minor hockey associations in Ontario, including the GTHL, OMHA, ODMHA, ALLIANCE, and an NOHA representative will participate in the tournament with additional teams identified by the Tournament Selection Committee.
Last March, the Toronto Marlboros defeated the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs 5-1 in the championship game to capture the OHL Cup. The title was their first since 2005 with a team that included current New York Islanders rookie John Tavares and Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner. The Marlboros also led the way with a total of 13 players taken in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection.
