OHL News - Radio Edition this week features a preview of the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships following the official roster announcement for Team Canada that was made on Wednesday.
Returning defenceman Ryan Ellis of the Windsor Spitfires discusses his thoughts about the tournament and his nerves leading up to the official announcement. We also hear from defenceman Calvin de Haan of the Oshawa Generals and hear about how he felt when he received the good news about earning a spot on Team Canada.
Ellis, an 18-year-old from Freelton, ON, won a gold medal with Team Canada last season at the 2009 World Junior Championships in Ottawa, ON. He was selected in the first round, 11th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Selected one spot behind Ellis at 12th overall was Calvin de Haan who was drafted by the New York Islanders. The 18-year-old from Carp, ON, is playing in his second OHL season with the Generals.
Also named to Team Canada were Windsor Spitfires' forwards Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique, and Greg Nemisz, as well as returning forward Stefan Della Rovere of the Barrie Colts. Former Niagara IceDogs' defenceman Alex Pietrangelo also returns to Team Canada from the St. Louis Blues.
