In Mississauga, Matt Kang scored the winning goal in the second period to lead the Brampton Battalion to a 3-2 win over the St. Michael's Majors in the OHL playoffs on Good Friday.
Brampton won the Eastern Conference playoff series in six games and will face the Belleville Bulls in the Rogers Eastern Conference championships beginning on Wednesday in Belleville.
"It feels great," said Battalion captain Cody Hodgson. "It's a great group of guys that we have and we're rolling right now. Anytime you win a series like this, it's a big thing, especially for our team. St. Mike's battled hard all series - they played great. "
Ken Peroff and Matt Duchene also scored and Brad Albert picked up two assists in the win.Thomas McCollum was the first star after making 22 saves for the Battalion.
Jared Gomes scored both of the Majors' goals, including a shorthanded marker that tied the game in the second period.
"I thought we had a great year together and had a lot of fun," Gomes said. "Brampton's got a great team and they played really well tonight."
JP Anderson allowed three goals on 27 shots in the loss.
