OHL Playoff Roundup: Tuesday

In Saginaw, T.J. Brodie scored in double overtime to lift the Spirit to a 7-6 win over the Guelph Storm in the OHL playoffs on Tuesday.

The win gives Saginaw a 3-0 lead in the series with Game 4 on Thursday in Guelph.

Jack Combs scored two goals and added two assists for the Spirit, who also had goals by Kyle Bochek, Tyler Murovich, Joe Pleckaitis and Chris Chappell. Jordan Szwarz had three assists while Murovich and Chappell each had a pair of helpers.

Peter Holland scored three times for the Storm, who battled back from two-goal deficits three times in the game. Brandon Buck, Matt Kennedy and Tyler Carroll also scored and Michael Latta had two assists in the loss.

Edward Pasquale got the win for Saginaw after turning aside 48 shots while Brandon Foote allowed seven goals on 53 shots in the loss.

Game Summary

Niagara IceDogs 5, Ottawa 67's 3

In St. Catharines, Marco Insam scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner on a powerplay in the final minute of the second period.

Alex Freisen, Matthew Sisca and Freddie Hamilton also scored and Jeremy Smith made 34 svaes in the win, which gave the IceDogs a 2-1 lead in the series.

Thomas Kiriakou, Ryan Martindale and Tyler Toffoli replied for the 67's. Chris Perugini gave up three goals on 13 shots before giving way to Adam Courchaine, who allowed two goals on 28 shots.

Game Summary

Belleville Bulls 2, Sudbury Wolves 1

In Sudbury, Eric Tangradi and Nick Palmieri scored powerplay goals early in the second period to help the Belleville Bulls double the Wolves 2-1.

Mike Murphy stopped 27 of 28 saves for the win, which gives the Bulls a 3-1 lead in the series. Game 5 goes on Wednesday in Sudbury.

Frankie Santini opened the scoring for the Wolves on a first period powerplay and Andrew Loverock allowed two goals on 33 shots.

Game Summary

Brampton Battalion 4, Peterborough Petes 2

In Peterborough, Matt Duchene and Matt Kang each had a goal and an assist to help the Brampton Battalion double the Petes 4-2. Brampton leads the series 3-0 and can wrap it up with a win in Game 4 on Thursday in Peterborough.

Anthony Peluso and Evgeny Grachev also scored and Thomas McCollum made 31 saves in the win.

Brett Theberge opened the scoring in the first period and Pat Daley counted in the third period for the Petes while Jason Missiaen allowed four goals on 41 shots.

Game Summary

Plymouth Whalers 5, Sarnia Sting 1

In Plymouth, Chris Terry scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Whalers to a 5-1 win over the Sarnia Sting.

Tyler Seguin had a goal and three assists while Joe Gaynor and Ryan Hayes also scored and Matt Caria chipped in with two assists.

Matt Martin replied for the Sting, who trail in the series 2-1.

Matt Hackett stopped all but one of the 48 shots he faced while Dan Spence allowed five goals on 48 shots for the Sting.
