In Brampton, Scott Tanski scored a pair of third period goals that helped the Battalion to a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Belleville Bulls in Game 4 of the Rogers Eastern Conference Championship Series on Tuesday.
Brampton leads the series 3-1 and could advance to the OHL Championships Series for the first time in franchise history with a win in Game 5 on Thursday in Belleville.
Matt Duchene put the Battalion on the board late in the second period and then Thomas Stajan and Tanski counted 1:25 apart early in the third to take the lead. Tanski iced the win with his third goal of the playoffs late in the third.
“You’ve got to give our guys a lot of credit,” Battalion GM/coach Stan Butler said after the game. “Belleville’s got as very good defensive team and to score three goals in the third period like that is a credit to our players.”
Nick Palmieri opened the scoring for the Bulls in the first period and Bryan Cameron pushed the visitor's lead to two with a powerplay marker early in the second. Palmieri scored again with Mike Murphy pulled for an extra attacker in the final minute of the game to cut the lead to one.
Thomas McCollum stopped 17 shots in the win and Murphy made 20 saves in the loss.
The Bulls need a win in Game 5 on home ice to extend the series.
“The next game is obviously win or go home for us,” Palmieri said. “There’s no need for any more motivation for us. We know what we have to do - we just have to go out and play a more complete game.”
