Spitfires’ Hall Named Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week

January 11, 2010

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Taylor Hall of the Windsor Spitfires is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 10.  Hall, the first two-time recipient of the award this season, led the league with eight points in three games scoring three goals and five assists.

Hall took to the ice Thursday night and scored three points at home against the Saginaw Spirit just one day after returning to Windsor from Saskatoon with a silver medal from the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships.  He scored two goals and one assist as second star of the 8-5 win.  On Saturday night the Spitfires travelled to Sarnia and grabbed a 5-4 win in the first game of a home-and-home series with the Sting.  Hall was named first star of the game and for the seventh time this season recorded four points, this time tallying a goal and three assists including his set-up of the game-winner scored by Ryan Ellis with just 12 seconds left in the game.  He finished his week on Sunday at home to the Sting with an assist in the 4-1 victory to extend his scoring streak to eight straight games.

Hall, an 18-year-old from Kingston, ON, is playing in his third OHL season with the Spitfires and is currently tied for the league-lead in scoring with 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points in 37 games.  Eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Hall is ranked first amongst North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting and will compete with Team Cherry at the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game next week in Windsor.
