The Flint Firebirds were in it till the end, but the North Bay Battalion got a third period game winner from Adam McMaster (3, 4) to take a 5-3 road win. Justin Brazeau (6, 7) joined McMaster with two goals and two assists on the night while Brad Chenier (2) hit the open net to seal the deal, helping the Troops improve to 3-5-0-0. Christian Propp made 35 saves for North Bay as the Battalion was outshot 38-25. Ty Dellandrea (2), Hunter Holmes (2) and Eric Uba (2) scored for the Firebirds who suffered their eighth straight loss to start the season. Greg Stefan stepped behind the bench for Flint after Firebirds head coach Ryan Oulahen announced he’d be stepping down prior to Friday’s contest.
