The Flint Firebirds fell behind 3-0 in the first period, but rallied back to make a game of things in a 6-5 overtime loss to the visiting Sarnia Sting. The Firebirds earn their first point of the season thanksĀ to a pair of third period goals off the stick of sophomore Ethan Keppen (4, 5) before Sting captain Ryan McGregor (6) netted the game winner 1:03 into the extra frame. Mitch Eliot (3, 4) had two goals and an assist for Sarnia while Sean Josling (5), Hugo Leufvenius (6) and Jacob Perreault (7) also capitalized. Calgary Flames prospect Adam Ruzicka picked up three assists on the night as the Sting carried the play, outshooting Flint 44-25. Connor Roberts (2, 3) scored twice and tacked on two assists for Flint while Ty Dellandrea had three helpers. Jack Phibbs (1) also scored and netminder Luke Cavallin made 38 saves. The Firebirds sit at 0-12-1-0 while Sarnia improves to 6-6-1-0.
