Poddubnyi’s second of the night was joined by an assist, giving him first star honours as the Otters won for the fifth time in the last six games, improving to 6-7-1-0. Hayden Fowler (2, 3) also scored twice while Brendan Sellan (1) picked up his first OHL goal. Mississauga’s Owen Tippett (7, 8) tied the score at four with 7:16 left in the third to force overtime. Cole Carter (13) and Keean Washkurak (4) also found the back of the net while Michael Little recorded two assists. Otters netminder Daniel Murphy earned the win with 29 saves as Erie was outshot 33-29. The Steelheads drop their third straight decision, falling to 8-4-2-0.
