The Sudbury Wolves broke out for their first win of the season on Thursday as three second period goals powered them to a 5-2 win in Niagara. Montreal Canadiens prospect Michael Pezzetta (3) led the way with a goal and an assist while 2018 NHL Draft prospect David Levin (2) scored a highlight reel goal with 4:17 left in the second. Rookie defenceman Liam Ross’ (1) first OHL goal stood as the game winner while Troy Lajeunesse (2) and Darian Pilon (1) also had markers. Sudbury goaltender Jake McGrath earned first star honours with 25 saves on the night, surrending IceDogs goals by Ben Jones (2) and rookie Andrew Bruder (1) who scored the first of his OHL career. The Wolves improve to 1-3-2-0 in the Central Division.
