The Kitchener Rangers are building their future from the blue line using the early part of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection on defencemen.
Grayson Ladd of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones was the first defender chosen in 2017 going 13th overall to the blue shirts following an injury shortened minor midget campaign. Ladd’s commitment to the Rangers was announced in May following his participation in the team’s Spring Camp and the OHL Gold Cup with Team ALLIANCE.
Also announcing his commitment to the Rangers in May was Matt Gordon of the Guelph Gryphons following a silver medal performance with Team OMHA Black at the OHL Gold Cup. The forward was chosen in the third round, 58th overall.
Kitchener’s 2017 draft class also includes second round defenceman Michael Vukojevic of the Mississauga Rebels who will join Ladd in representing the Rangers at Hockey Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-17 Selection Camp in Calgary on July 22nd.
